I own the hvx200 and the P2 store. I just found out that there are duplicate file names, they were shot about 2 weeks apart and have duplicate names!!
there are two names that are used twice??
I thought this was impossible,
This has created quite a headache,

Anyone have this problem?
:dankk2:

its not only not impossible but happens often enough to need to be aware of it

what is your workflow and why is it causing an issue?

It was my understanding that there would never be the same named files,
It is an issue because I am using FCP and the project name got changed, so there was media in two different capture folders, so I dragged all of the quicktime files into one folder so it would be more organized. Then BOOM, that is when I found out,

This is potentially a horibble probably, You would think you could design a system that sequentially just added up, so you would never ever repeat.

well - if you know that repeats can happen then you just need to plan your organization around it - in avid i create a different media folder for every reel I shoot -keeps things more organized anyhow

you can't rename the clips becasue then you won't be able to relink the media in the future. So you must maintain the orginal naming structure.

Not true, I've done it.

Me, too. I've got triplicated footage on three seperate drives and they have some different filenames for the QT movies, but FCP figures it out.
