I reckoned Panasonic released the GH2 without knowing how good the camera is for video:) It was a mistake, they have to stop it.
 
Haha! I like that. Somebody heard someone talking that GH2 IS BEIGN discontinued. Without knowing exactly when it will be.

Sure it will be discontinued sooner or later. The only question for how long that "IS BEING" state will last. So technically it is correct to rumor that GH2 is being discontinued at any time until it is officially announced that it HAS BEEN discontinued. And as long as it is BEING discontinued it is correct to allege that there must be a replacement model.

What do I actually mean? I mean that this "rumor" isn't even speculation or wishful thinking, it has ZERO informational value. In other terms: someone heard that Panasonic is working on a next model. What then? It's just a matter of course, it goes without saying... or "rumoring".

I think it is very obvious why the GH2 will be discontinued.

The previously unhackable V1.34 firmware GH1's have been hacked recently.

Panasonic now realised that they are stupid and can't make a camera or firmware that is and will remain unhackable for as long as it suits them

There is no other way for them then to discontinue any camera they do not like to get hacked.
 
If it is selling they are not going to discontinue it. Unless it is really cutting into profits elsewhere. But even if it is their competitors are going to offer the same camera anyway and take their profits. IMO the GH2 isn't going anywhere well until the GH3 or whatever
