Duel Systems adapter and Alienware Laptop

I hope someone can help.
My new Alienware laptop can see the HVX200. It can see the Duel Systems Adapter. But when you insert the P2 card, it can't read the card?

I've gone through Panisonic, Duel Systems and Alienware tech support.
Alienware says they don't have HP or Compaq parts that Duel systems seems to struggle with.
Duel systems said they don't understand the "error 28".

I now have 2 Duel System adapters I can't use and I have a multi-day shoot coming up.
In my search I saw several people here using Alienware. Hopefully somebody has a clue how to get this to work.
Is this just another Duel Systems issue or is there another answer?

Any thoughts???
Thanks,

I have the same problem with Alienware laptop m5550. It seems that the company decided not to answer my emails to resolve this. Im stuck with it bec Im trying to reach them before I could return the unit. It was too late and hoping that they should be able to fix the new driver version soon!

Mine is the Aurora m9700.
Duel Systems said they were going to look into the error 28 tomorrow. Let's hope they step up and resolve this. I'm counting on them since the guy I talked to seemed like he cared. The proof is in the fix! :)

Last time, I spoke with a tech person that sounds like he cared but afterward, no responses to fix anything ever since for two months. I checked their website from time to time to see new version and still not done anything yet. Glad they heard from other Alienware users to push them harder :)

Problem Solved!

Problem Solved!

The problems people have are often solved by voodoo!

It was more involved than this but in short, for others having similar problems.
Installed the Duel Systems Driver.
Uninstalled the P2 drivers, shut down the laptop.
Plugged in the HVX-200 AND the DSA, both with 8gig cards.
Turned on the computer.
Told windows to ignore new hardware.
Re-installed the P2 drivers from the Panny website.
Re-booted again with all devices still connected.

They key "seemed to be" having all devices installed upon boot-up and installing drivers. No matter what order I tried before, it just didn't work.

One more "ISSUE" The P2 Viewer would not load virtual P2 cards from the computer. After an hour I found that by removing the DSA from the computer, you can again load Virtual Cards. No reboot is needed. The good news is that the P2 Viewer automatically reads the DSA card with no configuring. You just can't use both at the same time. Not a biggie for me.

I gotta add, Jan had Robert Sullivan from Panasonic call me. We spent a couple hours on the phone. Although I was the one who found the "magic process" for this computer and the solution to the P2 Viewer not allowing virtual cards, he was so very patient and said over and over, "I'm with you till we get this solved". I don't get that enough in my world. THANK YOU JAN AND ROBERT!!!
Another feather in Panasonic's hat.

It's a GREAT DAY!!

Pardon me, what is the DSA? I have to wait until July 1st to try it out. My brother and my assistant flew to Hong Kong today with all of P2 cards :( I still have the duel adapter with me. Hope it works for my laptop with your method.

What settings do you use in the View -> Show Primary Bin and View -> Show Secondary Bin menus?

All of them and it didn't matter!
Going down the "View" list I usually use:
Detail View, Large Icons, All Virtual P2 Cards, Sort by Start Timecode, Ascending.
I kept going through settings on my old laptop and finally decided the only difference was the DSA. As soon as I pulled it I got my Virtual Cards to display.

I did notice a big difference in the P2 viewer version since I've had my old laptop with P2 over a year. The version # took us off track for a while, but that wasn't the problem after all.

Jed, Sorry, I've typed in Duel Systems Adapter so many times since Friday I had to give it an acronym, hence DSA.
