Just got done shooting and editing this video. Was a lot a fun to do. Though it is short, any critique on it would be great :D

Thanks for your time.

Shot on: Canon 60D
Lens: Tamron 17-50

Recorder: H4N

Hey,

That was cool! pretty funny.

For a little 2 minute short it was very well executed, nicely shot for the most part, nice little story with the obvious comedy angle but a story with a little depth too.

the effects were integrated really nicely and the music fits with the content.

There wasn't much wrong with it at all, great job!

If you have the time I'd appreciate your thoughts on my short here too, it's my third short film and i'm trying to get some more people's thoughts if you like it don't hesitate to "like" it on youtube as well haha, thanks ;): http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?283918-3rd-short-film-The-liberator-sci-fi

Thanks for the feedback liberator! Ironically I checked out video earlier today. I'll throw some comments in your thread tomorrow :)

The sound of the ducks can be louder... they're important, they can be "as loud as" the dialogues even, few db less.

The music is a bit 'disturbing" after a while...specialy on the "heey, you remember how we met ?" part

The idea itself and story was nice

Thanks for the reply dre83! I need to do more checking with alternate equipment other than my main workstation. What seems to be acceptable sound-wise on it doesn't seem to work on other things. Now that you've pointed it out I notice it on my work laptop as well. I'll have to double check things in the future. Again, thank you for the critique :D

yes it's the famous "I know the story and for me it's ok because I spend lot of timen had to hear my mom repeating the same thing because I left the dishes...." story. :-p

It's because you're so busy with it...

first rule in film making: "kill your darlings", delete stuff, redo stuff, give it to someone else (an editor, sound editor) and trust them. The can give a whole new dimension to it
and mostly... directors agree with it because after being busy with there film during 75 weeks with 1minute sleep...they can't see the light in the dark anymore

second rule: "pizza for Dre" :-p

Dammit Dre, started talking about pizza and I had to get a meat-lover's last night :)

I would love to get help to off-load some of the work involved. Right now I'm in the sort of stage which I need to start networking to entice people to join up with me. But at the same time I enjoy learning about everything hands on and seeing where it goes as I'm making it. I'm sure at some point that will die down and a more "I'm being buried alive in work," and "I need different perspective," feeling will rise up. 2 mins of film here was about 20 hours of work cause I'm still learning. Can't possibly think what 30 minutes or even a 15 minute short might take.

Scary,

I dug it. I wouldn't change too much, duckies were a little low on the sound but I didn't mind too much.

Well a feature of 90 min's takes about.... 6 to 10 weeks (depending on the style, lot's of SFX or not...), more or less...

So 90/3 --> 30 minutes would take.... 2 to 4 weeks....

15 min.... 1 to 2 weeks...

And that are intense weeks.... with a 75 soundpostcrew, with lot's of sound-re-recorders, soundmixers, 15466646 assistants....
