Dubbing to P2 from another camera

I did a search but couldn't find an answer. Is it possible to dub onto P2 card footage from another camera?

I have a sony camera that records to Hi8. It only has an S-video out and A/V out ports. I was wondering can I connect the S-video to the HVX S-video in and the A/V port to the HVX and dub the footage to P2 card. Reading the manual it look like this can only be dub to tape but did not say P2 wasn't possible.

I don't know if you can dub analog inputs to P2 or not. You could dub it onto the HVX's DV tape though.

You shouldn't have to though, you should be able to take the analog inputs and have the HVX do an on-the-fly conversion to DV which will stream out the firewire port, so you should be able to capture the footage live from the firewire as it plays off the Hi-8 cam. Hi8 -> S-Video -> HVX -> Firewire -> computer.

Thanks Barry, I was just about to do test to see what I can do. I didn't even think of using the HVX in that fashion. I will give it a try. Thanks
