Dubbing tape with DVX & consumer cam, skips in tape, help?

So I'm using my DVX and a mini Panasonic 3 ccd camcorder to duplicate a few tapes. I have used this exact set up in the past many times with no issues at all. The last few tapes, there will be a weird blip where on the duplicate tape, it's like a 2 second or so pause, then it keeps rolling, but the audio and video are out of sync from that point on, it seems random and happens a few times throughout the tape, each time delaying the audio and video sync time even longer. I have recorded footage with both cameras as a test and they both seem fine. I assume this is a head cleaning issue, but how do I find out which camera it is that needs it?

Also I won't use the head cleaning tapes as they are more bad than good, does anyone know a place in NYC to clean it for me, or can I do it myself? Thanks.
 
firewire, it's not the connection, I've done like 60 tapes this way before with no problems.
