Dubbing from CanonZR80 to the DVX100 ?

Hello All,

I'm posting my first question. First, I want to thank all for the great information I've read on this site.
I've done a search for dubbing but did not find an answer.

So here is my question:

I want to make dubs of the mini DV tapes from a short film and keep the original time codes.

I'm using a CanonZR80 as the play back deck and using the DVX100 as the recorder. They are connected by 4pin to 4pin DV cable.

I originaly recorded with the Canon and used the DVX100 as the play deck but lost original timecode.

I understand that the DVX can be used as the recording deck while keeping the original time codes.

What setting must I use on the DVX100 and how do you start it recording? I did go through the manual, but that did not help.

Thanks in advance,

Seamas

The menu setting you're looking for is 1394 TC REGEN. The right way to do it is how you have planned, to use the Canon for playback and the DVX for recording. Read the manual page about 1394 TC REGEN and it should tell you everything you need to know to be able to do what you're trying.
