A Client just asked me to provide a means for viewing Format Gudes for 16 x 9 and 1:85( theatrical apature) via the side monitor of the dvx100a .
I admit I havent read everything in the manual
But
I recall reading about a 16x9 matt which can be brought up .
This item cuts off top and bottom of the native 4x3 format . so it is not my first choice ..to yeild less picture info by using this function.

If there is a funtion to get internally generated gudelines for formatts(without changing the 4x3 capture Please let me know or refrence the page in the manual .
Otherwise I am going to do an acetate stencil
and us the 16x 9 internal program to
seat or place the stencil
on the outboard finder of the dvx100a .
Thanks for any advice or refrence pages in the manual or refrence to aftermarket products .
Cheers
Bruce

Bruce,
You can pick up a pack of 16x9 or 1:85 or 2:35 Screen Skins at EVS, B&S or Abel Cine if you don't want to use the DVX's internal letterbox mode. Once you use the in-camera 16x9 mask, you're stuck with it. Many users prefer to letterbox in post and use a framing overlay on the flip out finder.
Hope this helps.

 answering my own question
able cine charges five dollars for a singel skin
after the first one i am making up my own with all the formats represented onn one stencile that aught to give the client a good headache .

Bruce,
They are $4.95 for a pack of 2 at all dealers.
Yeah, 3 sets of guide lines on one overlay would give ME a headache! :)

I made my own stencil in Illustrator and lasered it onto an overhead transparency sheet.

Six fit on an A4 sheet, so I made different versions with and without letterbox, 1/3 divisions, center crosshairs, etc.
