Dual External Monitoring

I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed. I scoured posts for the past few days to no avail.

Is it possible to simultaneously output two video signals from the 5D while recording? Ideally, I'd like to send a signal via HDMI to an external display so that the director can live monitor while using the other video port to output a signal to a small 5-6" screen for my own purposes (focuses, composing, etc).

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions! Some thoughts...

1) Wow. The IDX CW-5HD Cam-Wave looks incredible, and unfortunately, incredibly expensive! This would be the perfect solution to my problem, if I could afford it.

2) Splitting the HDMI signal is tempting. Do you recommend a specific brand/model? We'll be shooting mostly hand-held (well, with a gun rig), so I'd like to err on the side of reducing weight.

Can anyone speak to the feasibility/practicality of the following scenario:
- Using the HDMI port to output to a field monitor for the director.
- Using the composite port to outpul to an onboard external monitor for myself.

If the camera can simultaneously output from both ports, then this strikes me as the ideal solution; mainly because it's the lightest configuration. Assuming this could work, does anyone see any downside to it?

Two further questions (and again, I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere):
1) What resolution can the composite port output while recording?
2) What resolution can the hdmi port output while recording?

I suspect I know the answers to many of these questions. I just need certainty.

Thanks again in advance.

I'm using this and it works great but you need to feed it 5 volts dc:

It'll only output either SD or HDMI, not both as far as I know.

It's 720x480 in record from HDMI and something much worse from the AV signal.

How are you powering the splitter?

Thanks, John

With a 12volt dc to dc converter adjusted to output 5 volts and then powering that with a battery I wear. I'm getting ready to mount an NP-1 battery to the rig so I have less cableage to deal with.
