trying to learn about direct to edit,i travel alot and mini DV capture time is a real downer. i have a DVX-100A.
i dont know much about using hard drives on mini DV cameras, what to buy? any help would be appreciated!

For a miniDV camera, you're probably looking at using a FireStore. You can't just use any old hard drive, it has to be a dedicated video recording device. I would imagine you should be able to pick up a standard-def firestore for pretty cheap on ebay if you want to get started.

How does something like the firestore work? Does it just record the firewire output during filming and then you can transfer or "import" direct to sequence or your bin?

Thanks
