DSR-11 prepping

Ok, I just got a used DSR-11 with very low hours in mint condition. No more using my DVX to digitize footage (which I rarely did anyway)! I want to use this deck with Avid Xpress Pro HD. Is there anything I should know about configuring it?

Also, I know the Panasonic tape lube is specialized for Panasonic heads. And I'll be using Pansonic tapes (for personal use), although I may use DVCAM tapes if my company gives me some "homework." Seeing that this is a Sony deck, should I do anything special before using it? Cleaning tape? Which brand? Any helpful advice would be much appreciated.

The drs 11 should be able to handle the mq tapes and the pany cleaning tape if you plan on using only mq tapes in it.

I dont think many people would recommend using a cleaning tape in a deck. If you need to clean it and refuse to pay someone. Most engineers I've talked to say "Clean it, or have it cleaned... or just run a blank tape in it for a bit and always use that tape to clean, never rewinding it." which are the same directions on a cleaning tape but a regular tape is probably less abrasive..
