DSLR Video mode = High Battery consumption - Suggestions? (Nikon D5300)

Hi, I have A D5300 and when i shoot videos it drains battery quite quickly so I was wondering: For videos in the house, would it be possible to power the camera with an AC/Adapter? It is something anyone has tried/can recommend?
How do you do out of the house? Is there a special external battery pack people buy?

Do you have/use a battery Grip?

That would be the easiest way to use the batteries you already own and get around twice the recording time.

I would have to agree. I've had many cameras in the past with ac cables. Although they work it get's to be a PIS looking for outlets and people tripping over wires. If you need to buy something get more batteries and maybe a grip if you really need it.

One other thing, do you have the camera set to shut off when not in use? I have my cameras all set to the minimum 30 or 60 sec. If you don't do that maybe try.

1- buy cheap extra batteries and chargers. 2 or 3, that's what we all do.

2-Get a battery grip if you want to use 2 batteries at the same time.

3-AC power does work. You get a ''dummy'' batttery that slots into the battery compartment and has a wire coming out of it to connect to AC power or anything like a huge V-lock battery or any other kind.

1 is the cheapiest/easiest, just carry two extras batteries.

Thank you for the recommendations guys! I just got an AC Adapter for shooting educational videos at home - works great! and then I'll get some extra batteries for outside :)
