DSLR slate for iPhones iPads etc.

What is the Visual/Audio sink that it says it does? Just curious on how it sinks the audio with the picture.

It doesn't physically sync the audio with the pix .. it's a sophisticated cueing device for double sound so you can sync up a separate audio recorder and/or 2 cams etc. in post .. for $4.50 + Apple.
It's a great idea mainly for the film folk ...

Understandably Spielberg and Co are not going to use a thing that cost 4.50 to mark up the spools on their latest multimillion dollar epics .. but it does have some application for others.

Do a search on "slate" at the iTunes store and you'll find over a dozen different ones - from crap to pretty darn useful. This one looks to fall in the middle somewhere. Think of using one of these slate apps on the iPad. Now that's a little different - probably closer to something Spielberg might use. There's one slate that works very well for music video production, since it can sync the slate to playback of the music on the device.

On a side note, check out Pro Prompter - teleprompter on the iPad and using the iPhone/Ipod touch as the controller.

So, is anyone using any of these iPhone slates? I have so much crap on my phone that I don't use. How's about some reviews.

I use iSlate but we don't use timcode or anything or the clap, or the logging features (actually i have used the log features before they're pretty nice.) We usually just have someone clap their hands and the iPhone slate...in a pinch (you don't really need the visual clap since the cameras are recording sound as well as the second system.) Usually we do a physical slate though.
