Dslr Shoulder Rig = Look At This

looks like a pretty poor design to me. youre still carrying most of the weight with your forearms.
looks cheaply built as well. you be as good off with a 2x4 and a bicycle grip

COOLLCD makes affordable products for monitors and such. But they are certainly not a DSLR rig manufacturer and aren't showing a serious claim in the trade with this kind of product.

I own several items of theirs and am very happy with them. I would never buy anything like this, though.

That's funny, can you recommend then a design you think not only looks great but is useful?

Thanks

man, this has already been covered into the ground - REPEATEDLY. from uber-expensive to diy. just search the forum.
zacuto, redrock, cinevate, gini, genus, proaim, ikan... the list goes on.

one thing you'll find is that its pretty easy to throw away a few hundred bucks on some little fly-by-night, chinese toy that's priced right and may look ok to someone who isnt familiar with how rigs work. but will end up stripped or broken in about a month...

with all that said. this is the most underrated camera support in history:

its like $100. i have one, and it does what it says it will.
on its own, its very handy. but if you bolt some grips on it. it could be a game-changer for the budget shooter.

Am I missing something? I don't use any of this stuff, but from the photos it doesn't look significantly different from other offerings. I'm sure build quality would be an issue at that price point, but function appears to be about the same, none have counterbalance unless weight is added to the back.

yup.
I don't use any of this stuff,
thats why.
having used a variety of kits helps you identify, simply by looking. what may or may not be a good idea

the fact that it comes off the shoulder pad with ONE rod, was the first indicator.
not that a single-rod solution by definition would be a bad idea if done well. this just doesnt look like it is.

This rig looks to short and not even remotely rite...... How could you move with something like that attached to your shoulder.... Im still looking for a small shoulder/ or hand type of rig

im guessing that youre referring to the cb105? right? how is it too short? and not remotely "rite" for what?
all it really tries to do is take the weight off your forearms and hands and let it be carried by your shoulder.
the reason i posted it is that its a really good starting point for someone wanting to learn the range of how shoulder rigs should behave.
and with about $40 spent on some metal plates and drill bits at home depot you can actually bolt some higher end stuff onto it...

How could you move with something like that attached to your shoulder....
not sure what you mean by "attached" or how you think movement would be impaired relative to any other rig?
