I'm looking for them online, but I don't want to pay $29 for the sound effect if I can record it myself for $8 after a trip to Walmart. Is there a free site that has odd sound effects?

remember you might not always find the sound you're looking for under the obvious name.
You could find that the perfect "dry erase squeek" is actually a dolphin sound in reverse

Make the effect yourself. Then sell YOUR effect on the sound effects websites.

If you make them yourself use a variety of markers and surfaces. Markers make great squeaks on balloons and pieces of very tightly woven cloth. Even your finger(s) on a balloon. Go ahead, experiment, enjoy yourself; this is the fun part of doing audio post.
