DRUNK STORIES!!! Share!

I drink usually every other weekend and usually going to dinner or doing the summer chill; race season starts in a couple weeks for example.

Tomorrow my neighbors are having a Co-Ed shower for their daughter so ther'll be Carne and Coronas and Swimming and shoes; good times.

I don't understand people who do not drink (I mean that respectfully); not people who STOPPED DRINKING but people that JUST DONT. Weird. Gotta throw some Pints back every once in awhile. Clear the mind and let-go.
Sorry, I was going to let you guys have your fun and PM John with a response, but others might agree with what he typed and I don't want comments like this to go unanswered or it might be misconstrued as acceptable. Which it's NOT. This comment poked me personally. And nobody can poke PK without dinner first.

...So if a person drinks and makes some mistakes or is allergic or ends up not liking it, and then stops - they have a GOOD reason. But a person who never wants to start in the first place has NO reason and you don't understand them? Isn't it possible that some people are able to clear their mind and let-go without the need for alcohol or have seen what it does to others and doesn't like it or doesn't want to support the industry or maybe it JUST DOESN'T INTEREST THEM? With all due respect, how is that weird?

The same thing could be said about anything, including smoking. "Everyone should light up and relax a little." Or meat eating (everyone should chow down on some ribs), country music (everyone should line dance), zombie flicks, etc. ...That's the great thing about this world, DIVERSITY!!! People can do whatever they freakin' want or don't want!

There's (hopefully) always going to be people who do and people who don't. I would HATE to live in a world that had all drinkers or all NON-drinkers. A world of all republicans or all democrats. All christians or all buddhists. The world needs vegetarians. The world needs XL1 users. (You heard me.) There should always be an opposing side so we remain open-minded to new ideas.

Think About This: The definition of a "rebel" is someone who defies authority or socially acceptable trends. Years ago a rebel was someone who went against the grain; a bad guy in the corner, smoking and drinking, while everyone else was pointing, smirking, and sipping their root beer. Times have changed in the past 50 years and now parties are filled with drinkers and smokers, while the rebels are NOW the ones sipping root beer and being asked stupid questions like, "WHY DON'T YOU DRINK?" ...I woud hate a world that had no rebels going against the social norms. And, thankfully, girls still love a rebel. I'm a rebel, Dottie. You don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me.

Of course, we all have the right to think what people do (or don't do) is weird. There's a lot of weird people in this world and on this forum. ...That's what makes it great! But hopefully we're all able to understand why others do, or don't do, what we like to do. ...You know, that voodoo that we do, ...so well. :cheesy:

Go on with the party and thanks for the extra air-time.

I've drank before and I didn't like the feeling that I was being taken advantage of a group of hot girls! I mean, they treated me like a piece of meat. I had two shots of Zima and I was out! I woke up and found out that I'm the father of four boys. Damn! I anit the baby daddy!

I only drink the hard ****, like Snapple!

Hey phil. I've been comin here for a few months, but am still a newbie :)

I dont post much coz I'm busy working on this event footage dvd i'm making for a karate studio of their black belt tests.

I haven't done anything really interesting :( But I do hope to be in the zombiefest :)

Just to throw this out there, I drink for the pleasure of it. I like the taste of wine, it's an enjoyable taste, and it's not a case of choosing wine to loosen up.

I don't think it's an either or situation either where people drink to go crazy, or don't drink at all because they don't want to be drunk. I think people can look at it that way, it's a very American way of drinking because we're hung up on it, but the older the farther I get from that mentality.

I think drinking is a useful social skill to have under control. There are opportunities in business and in your personal life where champagne or a toast is brought out to mark an event. Knowing your limits, and even when you can't drink taking a symbolic shot can be important.

PK, I think us drinkers reacted to your first post cause it came off a little preachy.

No big deal, just don't give me any ****ing merlot! :)

i love a good cab or pinot with a nice med rare steak. mmmmmmmmm may be the closest to heaven I'll ever get.

i drink socially, meaning wine with dinner or at a house party (house party in my world is dinner and some games and fun with freinds and family.. not puking over the railing while someone blasts snoop dog till the cows come home.) but i dont condone getting drunk. i mean .. hey, i guess if PK's a rebel.. so am i. im a vegetarian. i used to eat meat like a shark, and since my wife (at that time my fiance) did the cooking and wanted to be a vegetarian. i said. "ok.. i will too" it was that easy. i wanted to be healthier.. thats it. and im not owned or defined by what i eat. im not picky.. i just want to be healthy and have a full tummy. and now i get these questions like "whats wrong with you? do you eat trees or bark now?" so i know where PK is coming from. i just made a healthy choice.. and i stick to it. thats it. neither am i owned or defined or limited in my ability to have fun by how much alchohol i can consume. my cohorts and i climb bridges 150 feet up and build rope swings.. we go skydiving and parasailing, and try to surf on random objects like a toilet seat behind a boat. we go wakeboarding and rollerblading and build little go-karts from lawn tractor engines and some spare pipe to weld together.go on picnics, shoot stuff camp out, and go offroading. swimming or rock climbing. play soccer or raquetball. take our kids to the zoo. have a cookout and play some games.. ride bikes and fly radio controlled planes. play some pc our console games. takes our wives out to dinner or a movie or go dancing. take vacations to visit relatives. sit at home and relax in a hammock, and all sorts of other stuff that doesnt need anything added to it to make it fun.. or any of my memory of it taken away.

I completely understand and respect where PK is coming from. alchohol is a dangerous thing. just like other drugs. many people are defined by it. who they hang out with .. where they go and their definition of having fun is entirely hinged upon it. and it controlls them as if they couldnt live without it. persoanlly i like to enjoy it IN MODERATION with good company. hey, Jesus even condoned that. they had wine all the time back then. anyway point is it should not define you. and you should learn to have fun and loosen up without it if you cant already. try going sober to your next big snoop dog party, youll probably realize its pretty lame since your not drunk stupid enough to think it's cool. everyone just stands around making sure that you see them with a drink in their hand.. not much to say... just sipping away so that they dont have to really open up to anyone or let on that they are just as wrapped up in trying to look cool and be doing the "in" thing as everyone else there. everything is "ya.. ya .. yeah man.. totally.. im down with it.. yes... let me lean on the wall here.. cause this is cool.. we are cool.. this is fun. " except all said very loudly and hyper enthusiastically like its the coolest thing ever and we have to be loud and exaggerate everything we do to make it look like we are a party animal that is out of control and about to explode from sheer excitement. like some sort of manufactured robotic fun and if we all get drunk enough and play the music loud enough and make a huge deal out of the fact that we are drinking lots of alcohol, maybe it actually will be fun. not saying all drinking parties are like that.. but im certain everyone knows what im talking about. i cant say that about my house parties. its good times with good people being real and sharing a little bit of real life and fun and conversation with eachother. sure well down wine coolers or some wine or whatever. but its not the life or success or attraction of the party at all.

anyway, in reading these posts i have, and i hope others will notice that alot of people learn how to set down the bottle and open their eyes more as life goes on. its too short to drink it away. like john said.. drinking doesnt have to end in being drunk. you can drin.. have a great time, and wake up in your own bed instead of in a puddle of your puke in a jail cell with lipstick on..smelling of skunk spray, and having a throbbing broken arm , no shirt and one shoe. and remebring nothing.

blah blah blah.. nuff said. do what you will with your life. its yours to use or abuse. IMHO and experience, being drunk is a waste of life. drinking socially and respectably in moderation is a celebration of it.

iamloser, if you were a woman I'd marry you right now! :) Well said.

As Isaac pointed out, sometimes my stuff comes off as too preachy. I can also be condescending at times (I've got self-esteem issues). I'm trying to learn how to communicate my ideas and opinions in a way that doesn't turn people off, but rather inspires them to reach higher. The last thing I want to do is make people feel bad. Sorry, if that's how my posts make people feel. I'm not a people person.

iamloser - Of course I'd make you wear protection. hehehehehe

What you said about alcohol defining some people. I couldn't agree more. A few years ago I had a book launching party (we were going to watch a funny movie a friend had made, then go see a popular improv show at Pike Place Market, and then come back and try some improv of our own - that was someone elses idea). Once the first few people arrived, word got out to the rest of the groups that there wasn't alcohol, so eventually only 5 or 6 people came. Out of over 30 who RSVP'd. I found out later (Monday morning) all my co-workers went to a bar and stayed until closing. Something they do every week. Obvioulsy the thought of doing something different frightened them. Which is normal for creatures of habit. Trying new foods frightens me. Speaking of, I also know some people who have food define them (but that's a different thread).

You just don't know what you're missing, PK. Come on, do it. All the cool kids do it. You know you want to.

mmmmm, yummy beer:beer:

I'm a jackass.

lol.. sometime we all need to migrate together for some sort of DVXuser-CON or something. just set some dates and a place and hang out and have a good time. none of this small stuff with a few people nearbye.. im talking international. your there or your square sort of thing..

maybe that sounds nerdy to some people but we dont have to talk tech. we do enough of that here.. we can just have a blast. and milkprod is not on the guest list.

Neil, I'm so there man! But first I'll have to clear my schedule...For the next couple of weeks, I'll be:

I do none of that. My life sucks and I'm free...whenever...

What? Oh...I'll be right there...the first bottle of liquor my hand touches is calling me...my depression isn't going to drink itself away...so if you'll excuse me gentlemen...

FADE OUT.

I'm not sure what PK and Iam hope to gain by preaching the gospel of sobriety. Its not going to change anyones minds, and its coming off very condescending and stereotyping.

You guys are talking about people who are always drinking, constantly drunk, constantly losing memory, etc. I don't understand justifying your position by using an extreme. Thats often what people who are frightened of something do. I hate to say this, but what I see in you is a form of bigotry - An intolerance to those that are different, and using extreme measures of that difference to justify their position.

An example of a bigot's speech, in terms of racism, often begins with "hey, i'm no racist, i have black friends" If you noticed, Iam made sure to preface his sermon with "hey i'm not crashin the party, I have fun guys!" Sorry, but when you precede a speech with backstory, it means your point is pretty weak.

No one is denying that drinking can be bad. Thats what this thread is about, the times it got out of hand. What you dont realize, is the people you are preaching TO, are not the people you are preaching ABOUT. If they were the drunk, down and out losers you're talking about, I sincerely doubt they'd be on a message board for making movies. True drunks have no ambition, no desire to do anything but see the end of another bottle, I know some people like that.

And they darn sure wouldn't be posting drunk stories. When you reach that level, you're not longer entertained, if ashamedly about your drunk stories, because they're so numorous, you are just mortified with your own existence, and the only way to escape the shame is to drink again, repeating the cycle.

Now I guess I've gone and been preachy but it seems like thats what the thread wants. Of course all consumption is about moderation. This thread is about the times when people didn't moderate. Ever gone 24 hours without sleep? Ever been overweight? Ever been underweight? Ever gotten a caffeine headache? Ever gotten a stomach ache because you ate too much? Ever gotten a sunburn? Ever gotten a speeding ticket? Ever gotten prune skin because you stayed too long in the shower? These are all times that you've slipped in your moderation. You learn from them, and try not to repeat it, but the process is so much fun, sometimes you still slip up.

Thats what this thread is about, getting a speeding ticket or a sunburn... Not being a lowlife drunk who can't hold a job and ruins the lives of everyone they know. This is not "When a man loves a woman" So get off your soapbox.

i wasnt i was talking about raging alcoholics. i was talking about anyone who cant think of anything better to do for fun than drink. i find that sad personally, but to say that i am bigoted towards people like that is a very large stretch. i think drinking soda for liquid all day , and eating sugary breakfast cereal is dumb. which is a much stronger word than sad. ...anyway, im sorry if i offended you.
