I just tested my new dvx100b today and when downloading the footage to the computer through my sony mini dv camcorder which I use as a deck,
only at the beginning of the second cassete I saw two drops, one after the other. I forgot to put color bars at the beginning of the tape and started shooting from the beginning of the tape. the drops were about ten seconds after the beginning, could it be the minidv cassete and not my precious new dvx100b?
please help me...frustrated...

it could be your sony that's giving you problems. the type of tape you used in your DVX, is it the same type of tape that you have used in your sony? I'm thinking that your sony heads might be gumed up.

You mean dropped frames?

What NLE are you working with?

This is very common when using a different camcorder as a deck (particulary with 24PA)... never caused me any real problems, though. Try to re-capture, and see if it does it again in the same places. My guess is it will not.

Are you using the same brand of tape in both cams? If it's not tape dropouts then it must be frame drops which have more to do with computer performance issues.

You need to provide more detail about your setup...

using panasonic tapes AY-DVM63PQ
A small sony dcr-hc19e is my deck
yes I meant frame drops
it was in the beginning of the tape where I wasn't supposed to shoot things but was supposed to have color bars so maybe thats the problem.
I am editing with avid xpress pro hd
And it's not in the computer cause I see it when I play it back in the sony and the computer is really strong
thanks for the quick replies
