Dropping frames on new system.

Hey all, just had a system built that is dropping frames on only two drives...specs - P4 2.8 1 gig RAM, Asus P4C800E Mbd. Hard drives are all Western Digital: 74G system, 2 200 G Video capture, one 250 G video Capture. System 74G is the new 10K rpm drive, the others are all SATA 7200rpm w/ 8mb buffers. Problem is, the 200Gig drives drop frames like mad when capturing, the other two are fine (74 and 250.) I looked in the case and mbd manual and saw that the two that are working are hooked up to the SATA connections while the problem drives are hooked up to connections specified as RAID SATA connections. Any advice?

Re: Dropping frames on new system.

Mark,
If the 2 problem drives are striped as a RAID array, check that they are both configured to the same DMA speed...I think its Ultra DMA 5 for IDEs. If they are not striped, try unplugging one of them to see if that helps.
Failing that, I'd ask the vendor who built it about any problems with that raid controller. Sems to me I read something similar over on the Canopus forums.
Hope this helps
Ken
