Dropped my lens :/ Glass is good, but won't connect

I dropped my Olympus m43 12mm lens. Onto concrete. From standing height. SAD DAY. Ugh.

The lens and glass look fine to my eye, but when I go to mount it on my camera it gives some funky resistance. I did twist it on because it wasn't a TON of resistance it just felt stuck. When it got on, all I saw was black. Makes me think the connection isn't going fully... perhaps some twisted metal or pins now slightly out of alignment?

And perhaps the lens element is now out of alignment?

What are my options for repair? What should I expect for cost? Is the lens likely OK or likely busted?

I need this lens back ASAP for more shoots coming up...

First lens down. sucks!

Only one repair option...is the camera / lens technician and only they can cost it.

I would think a costly drop sadly for you!

Sorry to hear about it.

Looking at it today very closely, I can't see anything wrong with it. Just a little nick on the UV filter. Everything else looks pristine. I have an Olympus 17mm that is very similar and comparing back and forth, I just can't see any difference.

I am wondering why it is giving so much resistance to screw on. I only tried screwing it in once as I don't want to force it at all. I wonder if the body got warped slightly? Or just a little metal piece on the bayonet mount got bent inward? Whatever it is has to be a matter of millimeter or less, I just can't see a problem.

Is it common for something to be wrong electronically after a drop like this? or if the glass is fine, it's probably all good?

I could only answer this by using my crystal ball.

Unfortunately, I dropped it and it's out of calibration.

OK, a local camera shop looked at it briefly. Tightened some screws, no charge. It now mounts to my camera, though a bit stiff it doesn't need to be forced. Electronic controls pass, image is fine.

However, the focus read out is inaccurate and this definitely got wonky. It will not focus nearly as close as it used to, things need to be a couple feet back now.

:(

You need to have faith in all your equipment working properly. I would send it to Olympus repair ASAP. ( a semi-working lens is worth nothing when you are working on a job )

for sure... I sent it off today. $153 7-10 repair + shipping time and $20 to ship there... the $153 includes shipping back.

That was the fastest repair time I could find... locally was longer... Unfortunately I leave the country before that and so won't have a 12mm with me :( sad day
