Dropped my DVX! And it's broken . . .

Didn't Barry_S face this same situation and was able to repair it? Try sending him a PM, I sort of remember something like this from a year or two ago...
Do you have a link for this Barry_S, so that I can send him a message to see how he fixed his camera?
I have a similar proble but not as serious as the guy who let his camera drop down.
Below is my problem, if you know of any info. that could help me, let me know:

Hey to any of you who has some technical knowledge of how I could fix a broken flexible cable that attaches to the focus ring of the DVX100A.
I was cleaning the lenses and disconnect the flexible cables from the Focus Ring, after I was finish to cleanthe lenses, I try to connect the Flexible cable back to the Focus Ring, but in the process a small part of the Flexible Cable broken, making the cable slightly shorter, is there a way that I can fix this without spending a fortune, like sending to Panasonic tech repair authorizer and etc.?
Can I replace the cable myself?
Can it be molten or clue the additional part that will extent the flexible cable?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Mario

'Tis a sad day, my friends.

The camera slipped from my hand, and fell approximately 18 inches onto a hardwood floor. It landed on its lens hood, snapping off the lens hood, the plastic tip of the camera that protects the lens (whatever this piece is called), and the focus ring. :crybaby:

In the above photo, the actual piece that's broken is still attached to the camera. The plastic lens protective thingy (upper right) is attached to the DVX via 3 tiny screws. The plastic around these screws has broken, ripped loose from the ring that's still connected to the DVX...surrounding the lens in the above photo.

Below is the broken ring and its mounting screws, now detached from the camera. Can anyone identify this plastic piece? I looked for a part number but had no luck. I think that with a replacement piece, I may be able to repair the camera myself. I'd like to fix it ASAP for an upcoming shoot!

Hey Sean I am sorry to hear that, it is a tragic story man.
I have some info. that might help you.
Call Panasonic Service number at 1-800-833-9626 or fax 1-800-237-9080, order one AGDVX100 SERVICE MANUAL, it contains info. in how to replace the parts broken for your camera, I order this manual from them and it took approximately 2 weeks to get here, it cost me $50.00
I think it might be worth for you to try this before buying a completely new camera. Check it ou and let me know later if that help.

Hi Barry, this is Dan from Australia. My focul assembly has suffered a similar fate however it is only the one, rearmost of the 3 parts that is broken ever so slightly. It has an ELV sticker on it for all thats worth.
DO you
a) know if i can buy the individual part ans apposed to the whole assembly.
b) know if they are happy to ship to australia (an email contact as apposed to a phone no. would be a beutiful thing).
c) know if all DVX's are the same (mine's a DVX100Ae, Pal land).
