Dropped It!

Yes like an idiot I let the softcase slip off my shoulder and hit the ground!!  :o  :o :-X

I froze and all the posts about the sturdy build of sony vs the Panasonic flashed through my head. I opened the case and . . . camera is seamingly ok, but the anamorphic adapter has had one of its lenses (the samll one at the back) has come out of it's plastic lodging.

I imagine I can fit it back in by opening it up and poping it into it's place. Any tips on this guys . . . is it the first set of screws on the rotating plate . . . or the ones on the plastic shell cover that open it up right? Barry are you around?? I sit and wait in distress for some DVX aid.

As for the sturdiness of the camera  . . I would have imagined that a knock like that would have moved a lens inside also but the beast is quite sturdy !!! ( I hope  :-/

Damn Theos! You must treat as an infant child! Or at least a Toddler!

I dont know! Anyone? :-/ :'(

Re: Dropped It!

Yeah. My camera is like my baby. Hot cars, alone at a strangers house, leaving it by hot or sharp objects... No way!!! You have to basically see it as a mortal child.

Re: Dropped It!

True. But even so... **** happens.

Sorry to hear about that, Theos. It sucks when bad things happen to good peeps!

Please keep us informed and let us know the latest with your... baby.

Re: Dropped It!

Thanks Terry, was getting so beaten up by the above pearents! Yes accidents do happen and thank God this time all is ok . . . even the anamorphic lens is ok as I opened the top screws, the ones on the rotating disc and justed lodged the displaced glass back in its holders. proved to be a simple task.

I hope nothing happens to anyone's baby but if it does some compassion is always appriciated!

Last point is, my little mishap also proves that the camera is of a sturdier build than sometimes given credit for.

Re: Dropped It!

Optics are funny things: they like to be aligned in order to work properly.
If you have ever considered having your anamorphic adaptor customized to work with a matte box this would be the time. When done properly, the glass is taken out of its housing before the plastic is shaved. Hopefully, it is put back with precision by a trained professional.
