dropped frames - myth or reality?

hey all... time to upgrade my crusty old dvx100b and i'm looking at either a hmc150 or one of those new sony nx5u deals.

here's my question - a couple of dealers have hinted that the hmc150 drops frames when it bridges files larger than 4 gig together on the sd card during recording. anybody have any experience with this? is it a load of baloney designed to steer me toward the sony product or is it a real issue?

i often shoot long footage interview and would hate to have to jump cut my way through dropped frames every 4 gigs or so...

thanks for your help!

It absolutely unquestionably completely thoroughly does NOT drop frames!

Any dropped-frame issues are caused by incompatible computer software. The file stitching in the camera is completely seamless and if you're using modern software that's been updated properly for AVCHD, you will never see an issue.

The footage that is recorded is completely and entirely accurate.

thanks barry!

that's actually great to hear... i'm so comfortable with panasonic after using the dvx100b for so long that moving to the hmc150 seems like exactly the right choice. my fingers already know where to go!

i use final cut studio 2 to edit and would be copying my files to my hard drive (mac pro) prior to import. do you see any issues with that setup and the file stitiching?

really appreciate your input!

Barry...How do you import your HMC footage? Do you import it thru the panasonic software? Or do you just drag and drop just the video files from the sd card? Because I dragged the footage over from the sd card and I noticed a frame drop...but when I imported the footage thru the Panasonic software I didn't see it. Just curious....I'm using PP 4.21...Thanks!

Ok Barry...I'm having that problem...What kind of computer issue that you know of that can cause this?...I tried it out on 2 machines and the same thing...Thanks!
