Drop-outs

I've had my camera for about 2 months and Tonight i noticed that I had Video and Audio drop-outs. My camera has 35 hours on the heads. Also my friend fell with my camera about a week ago. Do you think this has anything to do with this or just dirty heads? PLEASE HELP!

Thanks,
Brody

I use the Panasonic AMQ tapes and I have never experienced a video drop out. I don't think dropping the camera has anything to do with the drop out unless you were shooting while you droped the camera and then the recording after that was dropped.

My friend was filming while he fell. Could I just run a head cleaner through it then switch tape brands? or since i already have 35 hrs just stick with sony?

I use Panny PQ tapes and never have a problem. You can run a head cleaner through it but I would have the service techs take a look @ it. I't's worth the $250.00. Had my cam about a year now. Wouldnt recommend switching brands as that is where the trouble starts. Perhaps someone with more knowledge can jump in on that one.
Good Luck. (maybe your friend can help you with the bill)

I'm kinda a n00b at this. Where can I send it to get it Service checked?

EDIT: and also if i put a tape in my pocket (getting it alittle dirty) then put it in the camera. would that mess with it. because I did that the other day :/

Yes, putting at a tape in your pocket (not in case) runs the risk of collecting small paticles of lint, dust, etc...Once that gets in/on the tape and you put it in your cam, you will get problems. As far as taking it in for service goes, check with a reputable dealer of the DVX & they can guide you from there as i'm in Canada that is what I would do(or call panisonic).

sony premium is the reason why you have dropouts, get the pro panasonic tapes, they are about the same price if you look around enough. absolutely no dropouts with those
