Drop Frame

The question is: When to use drop frame? If your work is only going to be played on a DVD should you use non-drop? Is drop frame only used when broadcasting? Thanks.

drop frame is used mainly for broadcast...
non-drop i can't remember. if your doing a DVD, it really doesn't matter.

Also the DVX will only shoot non-drop frame in the progressive modes, so if you're shooting 24p it also doesn't matter.

By the way phoenix, that Avatar is brilliant!

And the sequence is really where drop or non drop will matter, not for sources. Some timelines (like for broadcast) needs drop frame for accurate show timing - everything else doesn't really matter.

For clarity; I do mean in a timeline. So I should only use drop if my video will be broadcasted ...someday. Otherwise it does make sense that drop/non-drop doesn't matter because it's all just a matter of timing issues.
