This is a great point. I don't think there are really any festivals out there that are absolutely fair. If anything, these things give us a good lesson in politics when it comes to getting your name out there and entering fests.Mark Harris said:
As Barry said, the real prize is getting motivated to go out and do it. Imagine everything everybody has learned because of the fest. I not only learned by doing, but by watching everybody else's movies also. Alot of the time it was a lesson on what not to do, but it's learning all the same.
As far as voting for my own film, I think if my short is in the top three, I will probably go ahead and place a first place vote on it. If it is in the top five, I wouldn't. In order for it to be in the top three (in my mind) there are going to be things in all three that I like and dislike, so I'm going to give myself the benefit of the doubt.
