Drama-Fest Information

Yes. You can post stills. No moving footage from your actual entry.

And only on this site until the fest goes online.

Later,
Jason

Are we allowed allowing other people to check out the screen shots on this site? or are we not allowed to have any influence on that at all.? Because I would like people in the area I live in to check out what I have been working on.

Feel free to forward the link to your thread to whomever you like via email, phone, or parcel post.

The only thing prohibited is promoting your short or its thread on an outside websites including but not limited to other forums, myspace page, personal websites, etc.

I won't be entering this go around, but wish good luck to all!

Is it still true that you must have over 100 posts in order to vote?

Thank you.

I see a lot of good things in this fest. Too bad i got may new cam only two weeks ago and i'm too busy with other shorts. Maybe the next fest; and good luck to everyone.

Is there a post that gives the "official" rule that we must have over 100 posts?

I ask b/c we've made a film for this festival (99.9% complete and ready to be sent in) but have not been posting.

You can enter without having any posts. The 100-post rule is for being eligible to vote. And they have to be legitimate posts, not "post-count-padding" posts; frequently we see a rush of "I agree" and "" posts right before festival time, from people trying to get over the threshhold. That's not kosher; the point of the 100-post limit is to make sure that the voters are legitimate members who have been here a while and who are not going to be trying to stuff the ballot box (not saying that you would, I'm just saying that's why the limit is there).

So go ahead and enter; there's no post-limit requirement for entering.

yes, good post Barry.

I think as of last fest though, you can vote if you have less than 100 posts AND have a film entered.

We didn't think it was fair to not let someone vote with 30 or 40 posts who had found the site that month and had made a film to enter since all the other filmmakers could vote - even though you can't vote for your own film, so it's more of a participation thing I guess.

When you email your ballot in you just have to make sure you indicate what film you made in the body of the email, and send your ballot from the email you registered your film with / that your membership is registered with.

lol dont ask you'll just get "do it for fun" answer :-p

yes there is a prize but apparently you're not intented to have that be your goal but to be a something you get out of it if its good.... I still say some people survive on prizes or money made since some of us do this for a living and if it for something less than what thought you worked so hard for can be nerve wrecking but hey its not my room to where you say what you're getting. anyway do it for fun just be cautious of what you ask.... trust me.

Think we might have a small problem. And by that, small=BIG problem. hahaha. I'm aware that the main character has to be Eric. And we did write the whole script around the main character being "Erik". BUT. Now that I think of it, I'm an idiot and never really referenced it in the movie that his name is Erik. I mean, I guess when we do all the ADR and Narrative we could throw in there that his name is Erik. But will that be enough so we wont be disqualified? I'm kinda worried now about this.

I had a feeling someone would run into that problem. My short only references my character's name once, and it's on a TV screen. I had to make sure that I got an OTS of my character on the screen at a moment when his name was flashed on it. Figure that's enough. I don't know, maybe as long as it's in the credits??? It'd suck for you guys to have to throw in a obligatory ADR "Erik!" line in there if it's going to significantly affect the moment.

I know tell me about it. I mean, We are having a good bit a narration in it. But like, throwing in something to reference his name is Erik Klein just sounds cheesy to me. You know. It was supposed to be engraved on a box that the main character holds in a scene. But, no.... We didn't end up doing that. I don't think having it in the credits will matter. Because people could think we shot this a while ago and just did the credits to make it seem like we did it for this fest. But that's not the case at all. We did this for this fest specifically. Oh well, I guess bringing it to the audiences attention in the narration is how it's going to have to be. But I think that will totally take away from the movie itself. We will see what happens I suppose.

oh my movies laready done and i mad it regardless of the fest (i may not be able to enter because its way to long) but i was just curious

Thanks for the info on the voting requirement. I'm hoping that our entry qualifies us to vote, b/c other than "count-padding," there's no way I'll have 100 posts.

But if not, no problem. The only reason we haven't posted (though we have been "lurking," I guess, for a few months) is b/c we were so busy making the movie! So hopefully, it will speak for itself - - and we'll look forward to being "official" and visible members here from now on.

BTW - the movie is called "Bailey" by Sea Shanty Films, it's our 4th film, and we'll be making an announcement thread with a title card and stills very soon.

can the creators of this contest read my last two posts on this thread in regards to the use of the name Erik?

I am still wondering...
