To the last five of you that PM'd me about using using the title "Broadcast", my answer is: yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. However, I feel my own title is both more dramatic and memorable, so feel free to use it as you wish.

alongside Jan Svankmeyer and Wallace and Gromit, lol.

you have to have the right to it because it could get sold on a DVD

So you can adapt things that are in the public domain like Lovecraft, but not Stephen King.

So basically standard copyright laws apply.

So I guses a machinima would be out of the question, even if there was a way to record the footage with a dvx?

Probably not - but you could enter it for exhibition.
You could also incorporate Machinima footage in a live action thing - like a dreaming world / waking world kind of thing.

One question.

Throughout the history of dvxuser's various film festivals, has there been any film entries outside of US or UK?

I've been lurking around the past festivals sub-forums, can't seem to find one. I haven't been checking up on the current dramafest board though.....so if there are any non-US or non-UK entries, let me know!

Really? Dang, gotta sift through those old entries somemore. Pardon my ignorance.

I've just read the rules and one of it states that the main character must be named Eric/Erica. Interesting, especially if someone does a period Chinese martial arts film!!!

How does Eric/Erica sound in Chinese!?! Bonus points for creativity judges?

Thanks, that's given me a good idea.
just make sure it's close70% DVX - I think that's the figure Barry_S gave way back when someone asked bout integrating film or a cheap single chip camera into their work for a home movie flashback feel or something.
