DPCFilms CableCam

no need for ground, i will use low voltage (12-18V) with a short-circuit proof power supply. It will just charge a big condensator to flatten the signal (dirty signal due to bad contact between wheel and cable).
Eventually i will be also able to use a simple 12V battery if in the field.
since the motor won't be running at full power all the time, there will be plenty of "dead" time to charge the condenser and battery to absorb spikes, so low current can be run in the cable (about 2Amp should be ok).

a small li-ion battery will be on the trolley just to make sure there is always 2-3 minutes spare, just in case (temporary cut of main power)
for video transmission i got a Wevi that is very stable.
For the remote control, i got a cheap ($100) new Spektrum DX3 at 2.4Ghz (included receiver +1 servos)
The motor is controlled by a cheap ($25) bidirectional PWM motor controller

the potentiometer that control speed forward/backward will be controlled by a the servo.
the cable will be tensioned just enough to be straight with no balancing (about 40 pounds should be ok, using some kind of jerrycan you can fill with water.
currently i am finishing the trolley.
it use this part (4 wheels) and 3mm steel cable. I will use some plastic roller wheel for the motor.

so the cable must pass inside the assembly, there will be no way it gets out of its track.
at each end of the cable, there will be a plate with isolated holes to keep the cable at the proper spacing. One of the plate will have pulley so you just need to attach the jerrycan to apply the weight necessary to keep cable straight.
