FS7: DP502 monitor

With all the downs one should not forget that right now is a pretty sweet picture being 1080 and supporting luts in all modes and frame rates gives the FS7 a serious lift

Yes - when they first announced the 502 - I thought it was going to be the solution to the FS7's waveform / lut shortcomings. With the added benefit of being a great monitor. So a two for one deal.
I had also thought about Aja's box - but then was looking for one solution instead of multiple....I will check into the Fuji as well.
 
To be honest, I won't need the LUT out issue so should still be good for me and an improvement on the FS7's Screen. I also have an A7S as my B Cam so it doubles up nicely.
 
I just ordered this together with a TILTA lp-e6 AC adapter and an Noga-arm. I hope I can find a decent LUT for slog-1, because the monitor only supports 17-point 3D-luts? I have 32 and 64..
 
Just got mine, loaded the a SOny LUT in straight away, no problem. Screen is superb, focussing assist options are brilliant, very happy on first look.
 
Cross- convert SDi to HDMI ?
Waveform ?
These are items that I need for purchase. Not until they are actually functioning. Too many promises unfullfilled by companies.
 
You realise it actually has focus assist compared to the Sony monitor. Shot some stuff at f1.8 yesterday , was so nice to actually see the assist and trust it from infinity to min distance. Joystick is superb too, great idea to keep it relatively button free.

Focus assist/Peaking on smallHD stuff is great. It was good on my DP6 and it's great on my DP7PRO OLED. So if it's following in their footsteps, it's gotta be good. In comparison, the focus assist on my Graticle on my C300 is horrible. It actually makes it HARDER to achieve focus. Zacuto needs to address it in their next firmware update.

I tried the Gratical and didn't get on with it, sure it will improve, just not for me, I think I just prefer a monitor ultimately.

Just went to my local dealer today and played around with the 502 -
Very sharp, the usability is the best I have seen so far.
the joystick and one button for return is so brilliant and with the pages system for different setups - this monitor is a no brainer.
as of today there are NO waveforms or vectorscopes - only histogram and rob histogram - it is already in the menu, but with the message - coming soon ;-)
also the brightness is not as bright as the sony fs7 viewfinder itself - even when I pushed it to 100%
Also the capture to SD Card ( what might come) is not working right now.
by the way - i played around about 20 minutes and it got very hot .
but the zooming and histogram or switching between the pages is SUPER FAST and so smooth.
I will order mine today

I haven't noticed the monitor getting hot and have used it extensively for three days now. On another note, there was a bug where the LUT wouldn't come back on automatically when you switched off then on again. I emailed support and an hour later they sent me a firmware patch for it.
 
any updates on how this monitor's shortcomings and how it plays with FS7? i liked getting my hands on it at NAB, just curious if anyone has a timeline on the waveform update.
