Hey....I thinking about buying Vegas after playing around with the trial version. I was wondering if its better to buy the package or to download it. Do you get the bonus features like magic bullet if you download it. Whats the recommendation?

Re: Downloading Vegas

No real reason not to download it. You'll get everything you'd get on the CD, and from what I understand, there's a bug with the CD version, anyway.

You can download the manual.

If you've downloaded the trial, you've already downloaded the program; paying for it online will give you your authorization code to unlock it permanently. You'll probably still have to download Boris, the Film Looks, DVD-A2, etc. . . .

Re: Downloading Vegas

The bug on the CD (I have the CD) was with the Magic Bullett installation.  Sony-VEgas has the upgraded and corrected MB on the Vedgas 5b download site.  No other problems on the CD.  I don't know what verasion of Vegas come on the CD now but mine is version 5.0 and I had to down load 5.0a and b to get fully up to grade.

Re: Downloading Vegas

Actually, AFAIK, the Vegas installation is separate from the Magic Bullet installation. The CD version of Vegas did have some issues that were corrected within the week V5 debuted with the downloadable update of Vegas 5.0a. Magic Bullet did also have some of its own problems which were also corrected with an updated installer.

Also, as of Vegas 5, it seems that the demo/trial downloadable is a different installer from the actual installer (which you can enter your serial # to use). I know that with the demo version that I downloaded, I am not presented with any dialogue to enter a serial number.

At any rate, as others have said, the downloadable version is a very viable choice for anyone wanting to purchase Vegas and get down to using it quickly. It's nice to have a hard copy, but I don't even use my CD of V4 whenever I have to reinstall Vegas, as there are newer versions online that I would rather download to get the most updated version of Vegas.

Re: Downloading Vegas

I downloaded my version of Vegas5+DVD and then burned it to a CD. Then I designed a little vegas logo and printed on the cd with my Epson R300. Just as good as purchasing the boxed version if you ask me.

Re: Downloading Vegas

Yeah, I did the exact same thing. However, it probably doesn't matter -- it's always available for download.
