I have been using P2 cards up until now. Now I will use the FS-1, and the client wants to bring his hardrive so he can walk away with footage after the shoot.
Duh, what's next..? Firewire straight from one to the other.. Should i just go into his laptop? I'm not sure how much available memory he has in his laptop , thats why he's bringing harddrive. Tips please...
Thanks

Well, I assume you mean the FS-100.

You need to hook his external drive to his laptop, and then hook the FS-100 up to his laptop as well (either through the laptop direclty, or daisy chained through the external).

Then you just copy the files from your FS-100 onto his external.

Thanks Luis...That was my plan, I havejust never attempted it yet. Thanks for the confirmation..
BTW, nice bow tie..

Whoa, aren't you assuming a lot here? Does the client have the ability to use whatever format the footage is being captured in? The EXACT folder structure also needs to be copied, unless the shots were recorded in QuickTime, I think. I'm also assuming you are familiar withe FS-100 and the steps involved in gettting the footage off of it.

If you're on a Mac and using Final Cut, mount the FS-100, connect his HD. Set your capture scratch to a folder on HIS hard drive. Log and capture as usual. At least this way, the files will no longer be in MXF format. Just a thought.

I suppose I was assuming that he knew what format he was shooting in, and had already confirmed with his client that it was a format/codec that he could use, yes. His question seemed to only be about the logistics of how to hook one up to the other - whether he could connect the FS-100 directly to the harddrive, or if he needed a computer.

That's a good idea.
Also, if you do record in P2 mode on the FS100 (as opposed to Quicktime mode) then DO NOT FORGET the all important step of running "Organize P2" on the Firestore when you are done shooting, before copying the files over. THEN, as Alex pointed out, copy over the entire file structure (or, as Alex also suggested, Log and Transfer with FCP using his hard drive at the scratch disk destination).
