is there any advantages to using a camera off the avid list of cameras to use or will any camera do?

Depends on what you are trying to do - if you want to have a proven and tested workflow with Avid, then you should certainly use that as a guide. I would recommend that you decide first on format and frame rates that you require for your work, then come back to the list and see what the latest might be.

im just downloading 30p video. but ive noticed the jvc gr something that im useing is not on the list but i do have some trouble batch caputureing i always have to redo clips several times before it finally takes. i wasnt sure if thats a camera problem or a tape issue.
