Just finished a long project on an exibition and found out some problems downconverting to SD.
The question is simple and is related to pan and tracking shots:
- Which are the speed limits of slowing down or speed up 1080i/p and 720p in post, if then you've to downconvert it to SD interlaced?
- Should you use in the post process "frame blending" or not?
I mean, there are speeds that are better looking than others as in the SD process? It's better to use exact nultiple or fractiions of the original speed? (12.5, 25, 50, 75, 125, 150%.. in Pal). Or you can use "fancy" speeds as we do in SD? (66/67%, 33%...)
(I found out that one of the problem we had was downconverting to DVCPro50 that uses lower field opposite to upper in HD, so when you use slowmo at 66%, frame blending and then convert it to lower field SD we had one frame every two that was jumping back)
Thank you!
