FS7: Doug Jensen Master Class for FS7

Is Doug's training pretty Thorough? Does it touch on all areas of the FS7?

Gonna have my wife get me this for my Christmas present.

I just want to know how complete his Master Class is and if it covers the LUT area of it as well.

I have been using mine mostly for Documentary shoots and interviews but since I will have some time finally for myself, I want to explore more into this camera.

Thanks in advance.

It's probably the best video tutorial out there. I bought it before I took delivery of my FS7 and it sped some thighs up a bit. But quite a few things have changed since he made the class (with v1.0 firmware) and how the camera operates now on v4.0 firmware.

If you think you could benefit from a training class, then you'll probably benefit from it. But I really wish Doug would make a short video to accompany the major firmware updates. It could be short and it could preceed the course. That way he wouldn't have to re-shoot anything (heaven forbid) and people who buy the course later in the camera's life aren't having to relearn (and un-learn) major features.

I'm not the type that buys a "how-to" course on anything, and I'm not sure I'd buy one again (given the caveats I mentioned), but I would still recommend it to you-- so that's a pretty good endorsement of Doug's instructional skills.

I fully agree to what Barry said. I bought it and it helped me a lot to get quick into the daily business with the camera. An 4.0 update would be nice. What it unhandy is the expiring access to the vimeo clips after six months. I don't see a reason for that.

I bought the video series (or rented it for 6 months) before I bought the camera. I already had downloaded the FS7 manual. I found the camera was a big step up from my other cameras and after watching the video I decided to go ahead and take the plunge. The videos are very well-done and covered all that I'd want to know and then some. I bought the book that was also produced by Doug and that's what I carry around with me when I travel with the FS7. It reads like a script for the video, so it's a good reference to have at hand. When a product is good, I usually forget what I paid for it and that's true in this case. I bet Doug could write another chapter on the FS7 given he's had more time to get to know it. I'd be interested in any follow-on training he might do. "DJ's Advanced Tips and Tricks for the FS7"

Can't comment on the FS7 but I have bought Doug's courses for my past two cameras and am buying another today for my next camera. His courses are excellent, great reference material and very well organized. As mentioned above if you are considering buying a camera, they are an excellent investment prior to the purchase and will give you a fair and frank idea of what you are getting for your hard earned bucks. Aside from all of that Doug is a longtime member, and unlike Bloom he contributes to the group, answers questions and helps people on here out all time and deserves our support.

Bought the book and the course, can recommend it. And always like Doug Jensens comments and advice. But now I am waiting for his reply:

'As I say in my training video...'

I bought and watched his FS5 course several times over. Truly excellent. Clear, well illustrated and opinionated in a useful manner. Well worth the investment.

4 or 5 of my friends and frequent collaborators bought FS7s after I did and I recommended Doug's tutorials to all of them.

It got me up and running with the FS7 very quickly. I agree that the expiration date is a bit odd. For the price, we should be able to re-access the content. Mine's expired and I wanted to re-watch a lesson the other day but am certainly not going to pony up for the whole tutorial again.

That said, it's quality content. Thanks Doug!

Hey guys, thanks for all the nice comments. It's very much appreciated and makes it all worth it.

BTW, is anyone else at Adobe Max this week in San Diego? Would be cool to get together for breakfast or lunch if anyone else is around.
