Double Clutch Music Video

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

that's a nice looking video. i like the slightly "bleached" look of it.

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

.. i like the color correction alot. band is decent. should be cool to see it aired! props to john and dan again. :)

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

great job! so how did you get that bleached look? what were your menu settings and shutter?

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

The bleach look was all done with Final Cut Pro, its all using color correction settings to play with saturation, blacks, whites and tone. Took a little tweaking but wasnt to hard to come up with, we recorded true images with the cameras, no fancy tricks which is my prefered way to do things.

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

Pretty nice for your first crack at it. its actually near the top of my fav MV list, and would recommend you guys to shoot if anywone asked.. Love the camera movement, and the insert shots are well matched.... good work you guys.

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

Thanks for the compliments Jarred! I'm always worried about how a project turns out and I learn a lot from comments and critiques.

*saving up for a dvx100*

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

from what i understand, no lights were used during the shoot on top of the roof and solely relied upon it being an overcast day? what time of day did you guys start shooting and when did you finish? was this all shot in one day? what obstacles were you faced with as the day went by as well as cloud movement? i'm still amazed by this video and inspires me when i shoot mine this summer...thanks!

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

:D

Thanks Boo!

We didn't even start shooting until about 11:00 ish. Although we got there around 8:00 there were AMPS and crap that had to be brought up through a fireescape roof access panel! Im talking TUBE amps here, big stacks.

I have to admit it all went really smooth. At a few times during the afternoon, the SUN tried breaking out, but it was kind to us and stayed behind the Clouds for the most part.

I think we finished around 4:00 ish (Exfilms correct me if Im off on these times!).

I honestly can say there were no real problems. Everyone was in a great mood and mellow to work with. One time the juice on a battery ran out during a take; thats about it.

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

Great color, Loved the low shot from singer raising to above...what kind of crane did you use for the over the drummer to over the edge of the building shot?

The shots starting with a pan, going to the bus driving away was nice too, you think its another pan, but its still and the bus is moving.

I know what you mean about those amps, I used to have a 4X10 and 1 15, 6 foot high Hartke full stack, nearly 250 pounds!! ...hmm thinking now, I can't "weight" to get my 7 pound camera... :)

Great job on the video, it looks great!

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

Great video John. Did you live switch the video or did you use the 2 camera footage in fcp (or did you even use 2 cameras). Was it hard to sync. in fcp if you used the 2 camera footage. video was great hope you post the finished version for all of us to see.
What other equiptment did you use e.g. cranes, stabilizers, ect.
thanks

Re: Double Clutch Music Video

Two camera footage (John Hudson, Dan Lahav), cut together and colorized in FCP4. Relatively easy to sync (and this is the final version). We used a mixture of handheld, tripod, and crane shots. The crane was from Promax (www.promax.com) called the Cobracrane II+ and I highly recommend it to anyone shopping for one.
