Doorway dolly help

Interesting... looks like a floorjack with a seat on it. Very customized though with the dolly wheels and the air filled tires.... hmmm if I weren't in an apartment, it would be a nice project to build...
 
Is there a specific part of that dolly you want to emulate or the entire set up?

It's completely possible to build something like that, it all depends on what exactly you consider DIY? Is it as simple as making a slider? No. But with the right tools and equipment, it's something some could build... least something similar in fuction.

What kinds of tools do you have access to?
 
Im thinking maybe a four wheel cart and a mini jib inside it.. this would allow the ease of moving around within smaller areas too

I have seen one. That is essentially what it is. A standard doorway dolly with a short jib will give you much smoother motion. This one is designed to "jack" the camera to a given height before the shot and leave it alone during the shot.
