Wanted to see if it could be usable, and it can be.... kind of. (Whats up with the youtube preview?)
GH3 iso 12800 in monochrome profile. Havent tried in a color profile, but I imagine it wouldnt be pretty.
Uploaded at 1440p for best detail retention.

Joe, since the GH3&4 have a 6400 video max ISO limit with all profiles, did you use the "ISO overdrive" settings I described several years ago to get it to 12,800?

Peter, no I just used the M mode. Since its a picture mode, you can set the ISO all the way up to 25600 if you wanted, and then hit the record button to take video.

Joe, it reverts to the video max of 6400 under the conditions you state. You can show that by taking a still frame at 12,800 in Monochrome (or any other color "style") in Manual mode, as I just did w/ my GH3 at f/3.5, 1/30 sec, 12,800, and then shoot a video button clip at the same settings. On playback the video clip will be underexposed compared with the stills - 1EV on the comparative histograms. Same in the GH4. And you can't see the video ISO setting in any playback mode (except in the "Photo 4K" mode in the GH4).

To get a true 12,800, the video "ISO Overdrive" technique I described in the past works in the GH2,3,&4. You have to be creative video mode on the mode dial, ISO 6400, and priority set to either A or S, in a low light setting, so that the video will be clearly underexposed - I use A mode, with aperture wide open and SS defaults to 1/30 as it's lowest. Now start clicking the exp. comp wheel in a positive direction: nothing happens in the first six steps (2 EV w/ 1/3 EV increments). Now click the last three, to +3 EV total, and you will see stepwise brightening of the screen. In comparison with stills at 12,800 w/ same A & S settings, the exposure is the same - a true 1 EV gain - with debatable usability!

Just looked at this again... damnit you are right. I thought it looked a little dark (and clear) for 12800! Interesting. Well, thanks for the heads up!
