Don't look at this... Seriosusly. Don't.

Here's the other one with the same answer ... "yup!" shot it with a DVX.

Any general comments re: framing/color correction/transitions/pace/pulse/edits etc?

How long does it take to load Toaster? I've waited about 8 mins. Is it a big file? I really want to see it as I like your work.

this music video rocked my FACE off! i was jumping on the internet for just a few minutes to check out the dramafest board when "don't look at this" popped up and i knew i had to! then when the video started i knew i couldnt look away or x out... holy cow, man. beautiful beautiful work! i assume from what you've posted here that this was the stock dvx lens... no adapters? (unless "rockers" meant something other than the band members) ;)

WOW! i would LOVE to hear more about your process for this video. i've shot only one music video and had several limitations. can you release info like what you charged? what you used? how you did your takes (slate or no slate) and how you synced it all up in the end?

Thanks, toaster. again, this is beautiful stuff!

Great job Kevin. Overall the video was totally solid (much like the rest of your work). The only thing I noticed was sometimes it seemed like the synch was a bit off with the vocals and the drums. Probably unnoticeable to most people though.

How many lights/what kinds of lights did you use?

Tim.

Thanks guys. And yeah, I'd be more than glad to share my set up. Pretty basic:

- DVX100
- Cobra crane (I get about 10 feet out of it)
- Home made dolly (70mm Kryptonic wheels with Abec 7 bearings)
- Tripods (various)
- Mackie 350's for playback

The jib/crane takes a little while to get used to, but once you have a "feel" for it you can get some really nice stuff.

Audio/drum sync - I think that might have something to do with the compression...it should all be spot on *gasp*!

As far as workflow for performance shots .. I prep a shot list after having learned the song. When I shoot I want to know exactly what's coming up and how to respond to the song dynamics. Sync-up in post is nothing less than syncing up to the audio playback and then fine tuning.

ROCK!!!

You used a regular dvx100p ? And no 35mm adapters? WOW! Please tell me this is true. How did you get such a great look with just a dvx100p ?

the band is tight, video looks great, I forgot what the dvx looks like without a 35mm adapter. I do feel the video is plain, even with all the jib/dolly shots. It needs something, I dunno. nevertheless, solid work.

Thanks guys...

Yuu - by "100p" I'm assuming you mean the original DVX100 - in which case the answer is yes. And no adapters .. stock lens only.

The look is a function of careful framing, good lighting (I always try to have someone who knows what they're doing with me), adjusting your camera settings to suit the look/feel you want -- in this case I shot around 120-250 shutter, open iris, fine-tuned white balance to get desired cool-to-warm flavors, and simple post / cc work (crush blacks, pop mids, create hues to fit vibe. Hope this is useful :)

Very Cool! Like the side story, i think the principal photography could use some color timing maybe something cooler (blue)...

Also it looks like it was shot with a high shutter speed and I think a lower shutter speed would make it feel less sharp.

All around great shots, and edits.

Man, that was mad good. The band is freakin' awesome too. Dude, the story shots looks so much like 35mm film. Wow! great job!

Thanks again guys ... working on some new nuggets .... looking forward to sharing them when they're done, too.

Rock \m/ \m/
