Don't leave home without it

I was on the way home from work, and got caught in a tremendous lightning show. Totally surreal. I have never seen anything like this; not even on Discovery Channel... Here are a couple of grabs and a clip.

I have owned my DVX for about 3 months, I'm still getting used to it.

You should send this NOAA and see what they think. That was one hell of a strike, the ball of light on the ground before the strike - WOW. Maybe lightining does start on the ground?

Yes, lightning does start on the ground, unless my science teachers have been lying to me all these years? :D

The clip was shot at 24pa. I didn't even see the ground ball until I pulled the velocity envelope down to about 50 percent and stretched the timeline out to single frames. The strike was about 3 miles away. I was about 100 feet over the freeway in the middle of a bridge. After that blast, I thought I might be better off at the house hiding under the bed!
