don't get SCAMMED by ExpressCameras.com

DO NOT ORDER from expresscameras.com

I've already been ripped off by them and I know somebody who was recently scammed by the company.

I'm posting this to inform anybody who is considering purchasing from this company. DON'T DO IT.

I purchased a Canon GL2 from them three years ago. I had 3 day shipping and it took 3 months to get everything I ordered. It took me over 30 phone calls and over 3 hours talk time along with harassment from their sales reps and many hangups.

THESE MOTHERF#*(ERS EVEN HUNG UP ON THE FRAUD DEPARTMENT OF MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY

They are still open and scamming people. I don't know how, but they are!

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Based on what I had written below, I called Express Cameras and cancelled the order before it was shipped. There were no issues cancelling the order.

I made a mistake in not checking this site before I ordered a camera. I have not received the "confirm you order" e-mail as of yet. However, in doing research, which I should have done before hand, I found this press release from the New Jersey Attorney General Office. They announced a law suit against Expresscameras.com and their related businesses.

I've copied and pasted the press release for your enjoyment...

State Files Suit Against Electronics Company for Violations of Consumer Fraud Act
NEWARK - The Attorney General’s Office and Division of Consumer Affairs have filed suit against an Edison-based electronics company for allegedly violating the state’s Consumer Fraud Act and Advertising Regulations in its advertisement and sale of cameras and other electronic equipment.

The lawsuit, filed in Middlesex County Superior Court, alleges that Save Here Distribution, Inc., engaged in unconscionable commercial practices and made false promises and misrepresentations to consumers. The company sells items through various web sites and toll-free telephone numbers. Sale items include cameras, televisions, VCRs and gaming consoles, among other things.

“While shopping online can be convenient, it is important for consumers to remain cautious and be informed about whom they are doing business with,” said Attorney General Stuart Rabner. “We expect all businesses to conduct themselves in full accordance with state law; anything less will not be tolerated.”

The state’s complaint alleges that Save Here Distribution used bait and switch tactics, failed to deliver merchandise and misled consumers in the advertising and pricing of items. The specific allegations include:

Failing to sell merchandise at the price advertised on the company’s web site; Charging or attempting to separately charge for accessories or equipment that the Original Equipment Manufacturer included with the merchandise (for example, camera batteries and/or battery chargers); Charging consumers inflated shipping and handling fees; Failing to provide any price reduction for merchandise which appears to be on sale or reduced; Failing to inform consumers at the time of purchase that some or all of the merchandise is out of stock; and Refusing to permit consumers to cancel an order or merchandise upgrade prior to shipment.

The company allegedly used terms like “Price Drop”, “List Price” and/or “Our Price” on its web sites without providing any price reductions for the advertised merchandise.

"Consumers should know that the Division carefully monitors all aspects of the marketplace, including online businesses," said Acting Director Nolan. "By filing this action, we hope that the defendant will 'get the picture' that this kind of conduct is not acceptable in New Jersey."

Save Here Distribution has advertised and/or sold merchandise through the following web sites: expresscameras.com, geniuscameras.com, trustedcamera.com, trustedphoto.com, luckydigital8.com, clearviewcamera.com, bluestripephoto.com and hopecamera.com.

The state is seeking restitution for affected consumers, maximum civil penalties which currently provide for up to $10,000 for the initial violation of the Consumer Fraud Act and up to $20,000 for each subsequent violation, and reimbursement of the state’s investigative costs and legal fees.

Deputy Attorney General Geoffrey R. Gersten is representing the state in this matter.

I'm so happy to read that some action was taken against those low life scum bags that try to scam you out of your money through bait and switch as well as black market products. I've almost had it happen to me and then I came across resellerratings.com

Spend the extra buck and buy from a reputable authorized dealer.

HVX Buyers BEWARE

Check out this link:

They say they're selling "BRAND NEW" HVX's for $1,999.00. I'd like to see somebody successfully pick one of these up for that price. It seems like the state of New Jersey would be able to shut these guys down for this kind of scam. There is absolutely no way they can be selling these for this low of a price. I'd take out a loan, buy 10 right now and open up a rental house if that were the case.

BUYERS BEWARE!

God Bless B&H, and all the other great dealers out there :)

Never had one problem with B&H. One time I got a bad HDD, and they paid to have it shipped back and offered to ship me a replacement free of charge. Ahh... I even bought my Binoculars through them.

My wife bought my dvx100b as a christmas present (no I'm giving her up) she was very nervous about ordering it online but a buddy of mine thankfully steered her clear of express camera .com, btw she ordered it from newegg.com and received it in about a week. I have bought many things from newegg and never been disappointed.

thanks for the warning but the "too good to be true" price tag speaks for itself. Newegg is a great website to buy from.

I buy all my sound stuff from Sweetwater Sound, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. I could go somewhere else and get my stuff a little cheaper. But I've been doing business with these folks since before I got into video (I was a semi-professional music composer, which is how I got into video). I trust them without question, they've been there for me in disasters (sales engineer contacted me directly after Katrina to see if I was alright), they talk to me as long as I want and give me all the info/advice I need, even if I don't make a purchase that day. The customer service I recieve, and the trust they've earned from me is worth so much more than the extra couple of dollars I spend on equipment from them.

Lowest price has nothing to do with getting the best deal.
