dont break your battery tabs!

i thought this should be a thread on its own since it is a know problem with the hvx and can be easily preventable.

watch out for those battery tabs, they tend to break. top and bottom pressure on the battery can snap the tabs off. sometimes im so concetrated on my shot i dont realize im pushing the battery against my fat gut. if u notice there is a small space between the bottom/top of the battery and the camera. i put a few layered strips of duct tape on the battery so that it fits snug and prevents the battery form moving up and down.

I've found that the stick on round felt pieces designed for chair legs work perfectly to prevent battery movement, one top and one bottom. Also, when a crack has just started, a drop of clear epoxy on it will keep it from getting worse. I did both of these 3 years ago and have not yet had to send mine to the shop for repair. The camera is 5 years old and the tabs started to break about 2 years in. It has the improved tabs, not the original weaker ones.

Anyone know what it costs to fix? We have two HVX200's and I have done a good job so far not breaking mine but my business partner broke his awhile ago. He keeps the battery held in place with tape... We also use the Juice Designs base plate to keep the base of the camera from breaking. Our friend broke his and it cost $1000 to fix.
