"Domino"

Style is one thing, which I liked. I just didn't like the story. Without that, you don't have me. It can be the sickest most twisted violent story ever, but story is key for me. In the end, I just didn't fall in love with Man on Fire's story, characters or anything. Technically, it was nice. But I'd rather watch a movie I did both technically and storywise.

Well, to each their own. Freak.

Just kidding, Robert! LOL! I hear what you're saying ... for some reason that one just worked for me. I'll have to check out Domino, but may wait for DVD. Speaking of which, can't WAIT 'till BATMAN BEGINS comes out this Tuesday! Yippee!

Just got outta the early show of Domino.
Hmmm...not sure what to think. Acting was great on all accounts...definitely some cheeze thrown in there (reality tv tangent, overdone flashbacks) but still entertaining.
Cinematography had it's own style but I gotta say I can't stand the blurred shutter shots during flashbacks and randomly cut into action scenes. It drove me nuts!
Keira was great, glad to see Mickey Rourke back, but too many lost messages in the "story" me thinks.
And, not a first date flick :-) Still an entertaining 2 hrs...and a wicked soundtrack!!

I can sum up the film in one word: DISSAPOINTING.

I like Tony Scott's visual style (or NEW style, sans True Romance) but this was complete overkill.

There was absolutely no character developement. Things were happening to these people, I couldn't have cared less. Didn't get to know them, didn't get to decide whether or not I liked them, they were just there.

Some of the performances were good, but most were mediocre at best.

*Spoiler*
Okay, we get it, the gold fish and the quarter were symbolic... no need to show flashbacks to them every 15 mintues.

I didn't care at all when people were dying at the end, I had absolutely no emotional investment in anyone.
*Spoiler over*

Just watched this last night and by the end it left me ambigious. It was definately a fun ride, and I wasn't expecting a story with depth, so I wasn't disappointed. The DVD is very gritty, and grainy. I didn't see it in the theater, but I assume it was the same. Took me a sec to adjust because I haven't seen a movie like that in a while.

All in all, it was decent. Sometimes the editing and the cinematography got in the way, but for the most part it kept the movie interesting.

I didnt like this movie at all. Boring story and WAY over edited.
There were times when it was no action, just people talking and then i get hit with the 6-7 camera angles with flash transitions. Gave me a headache.
almost gave me a seizure watching it.

Domino had a lot of this...
:furious3: :kali: :Drogar-Evil(DBG): :violin: :Drogar-Smoke(DBG):
The whole thing was gratuitous at best, but went over the top with Ian Zeiring and Brian Austin Green from 90201. I should have :banned: this...

I can see how people would like it -- very flashy and slick -- but I was disappointed with Scott. The story didn't really devleop for an hour. And it actually meandered with the minor characters, which made it boring. (IE The whole useless Jerry Springer bit.)

Keira Knightly is visually stunning, but couldn't pull off the badass for me. If I had to make a recommendation I'd say pass until it comes to TV.

I just saw this last night too and really liked the cinematography. Color reversal film is gorgeous. Editing was superb. Pure art. The same goes with Man On Fire. The story, however, was silly. Much of the dialogue was tired and cliched--very unoriginal. "You set us up!" How many times have we heard this line in movies? The performances were OK, except for Christopher Walken's--his was great!
