Hey what is a good dolly to use with the DVX camera? May have to get rent it doing a video that requires movement.

Re: Dolly

One of my students made his own dolly and steadycam.  I however, lack any skills in the building department. I wish I could find someone willing to make me some of those things.

Re: Dolly

wholly **** RWM, you could sell those things. Very nice!

Re: Dolly

Thanks a lot!

The material for the Dolly wasn’t sooo expensive but it needs a lot of time to build it. Oh, the Base and ball adapter are not self made. I buy it from GFM. THAT was expensive but the quality is awesome.

But the best thing is… in 5 min. I can build up the roll-dolly into a rail-dolly! Last week I work the 1.st time with the Dolly and… :)  …it was perfect! For all the people who needs a little “input”, here are some (visual) links who helps me:

BTW, my next project is a Jib and at the end of the year a full steadicam ;D ;D ;D

Re: Dolly

Good job on the dolly. You haven't said a price?? :D

Can't wait to see the Jib!!!

Re: Dolly

@TylerGred: These are Kart-Wheels (DVX100Shooter U'r right!). I bought my wheels from the German vice-champion, so it is a very quick Dolly! ;)  TIP: L@@k at eBay and save money!!!

@TheAmPro: The Material for both, wheel and rail setups are around 600 – 700 EUR / $

@DVX100Shooter: Yes, the part in the middle is the Baseplate with Euro-mount and HiHat.

@Elvis:
1.) I didn’t have really plans. Only some ugly drawings that I never show someone because I AM the only one who understand these :) :) :)
2.) I will never sell “brainware” here!!! In my opinion, everyone in any community have a special knowledge. You give you’re knowledge and get some other hints, tips or helpings. (see asterisk**)
3.) Feel free to ask! I try to give you the information with my bad English (sorry 4 that!)
4.) Later or tomorrow I will post her a picture that gives you more information about the bottom of the Dolly.

** I hate those Sites like DvCamerarigs or this eBay auction because they do NOT invent something! They copy ONLY and then they sell the copy plants, BRAVO!  ::) >:( :-[

Hehe… looks like I’m a little away from the main theme… sorry for that!

Re: Dolly

RWM. Do you mind sending some pics so I can put them up on HBS Website? It looks fantastic. ;D

Re: Dolly

@charles: take this pics here or send me a pm with your eMail and I will send you the pics next week.
@Ernest_Acosta: yes, they are pneumatic. (from a cart)

Right now, I didn't have a piture from the rail-setup but here is a picture "on location".
As you can see, I use sometimes a LCD-Monitor on a sidearm.

Re: Dolly

RWM,
What do you use to make the wheels on the dolly stearible. My building expertise is very limited. I see you have some sort of bar between the two tires. What is that called?
Thanks
Whit
