Dolly Track

I purchased a dolly and track from Long Valley Equipment but am having a problem with the track as it's not smooth when going over each part of where the tracks connect, I tightened, loosened, tried everything but every time you go over where each dolly piece connect it's bumpy as heck. I'm sure they would not sell track that would not be 100% smooth so am wondering if there is anything I can do? I've used a longer solid piece of PVC pipe in the past and that works great, but I wanted a longer track and one that would go in a circle.

Are the locator pins not registering properly? These are often steel inserts, but if there is play in their installation, then you may never match up exactly right. I've used some very sloppy track and we have had to shim the connections in the past. I like the FilmAir track because the ties do not interfere with the tracks making full contact with the ground. This makes a difference too.

The skate wheel trays feature eight wheels in a staggered pattern. This insures that no two wheels (per dolly side) travel across the joints simultaneously. That is the cheat most often employed for down-and-dirty dolly gags.
