I'm graduating this fall with my BA (not in film) and so it's decision time. If I do pursue a graduate degree, be it film production or anything else, I want to get it out of the way now and not wait around a few years.
Film looks like the most attractive course of study for me as a graduate student but I have no idea how much it will actually help me in the future when trying to find work in this industry, how much it would build my skills compared to just jumping into the real world now, if it's worth the time/money/effort etc.? I should say that I don't have much interest in being a teacher or professor. I'm only doing this if it will help me actually make films!!!
Keep in mind that student loan debt is not really an issue for me. I've been working since I was 17 and I've never had to go into debt for my education and I have enough money now to at least get through my first year of grad school, granted it's not a crazy expensive program. I'm most likely going to do it at a state college. It's also likely that at least some scholarship money will be available.
Anyone been there / done that? Advice, warnings, anything would be greatly appreciated.
