Does video Auto Focus work with E-Mount lenses?

Does video Auto Focus work with E-Mount lenses? Or is it only Alpha lenses with the LA-EA2 adapter?

I'll take Image Stabilization over Auto Focus, but i was hoping both worked if you simply chose one of the MANY(!?!) E mount lenses.

If not, i might go with Sigma lenses that have their own OS and have AF through the LA-EA2 adapter. I've heard that would work, though i'm not sure if it's confirmed.

For some reason, i'm just very interested in getting all the working features! I'd even go E Mount only to start off and pick up more as they come along over the rest of the year.

Chad - in another thread, I have already answered your question; of course the E-mount lenses from Sony (look for SEL series) do autofocus, and do it quite well, I dare say (they are certainly better with AF than with manual, at least from the operator's point of view :().

I'd say it's pretty decent, but it doesn't beat a cinema lens like an Arri master prime with an assistant attached :D

I find that the AF on the 18-200 is too jumpy at times, unless ofc you like to keep the subject at interest in the middle of the frame. (I'm a golden ratio fan :P )

The best results I've had out of Sony's auto focus is to use it in a semi-automatic mode. The Push AF seems to be fine. But from the tests I did it didn't hold focus very well with a subject moving towards and away from the camera. Manual focus with the 18200 lens is just arse.

I take the point about a cinema lens and assistant and that's true but for the lone operator there seems much more the camera companies could do in terms of developing production quality autofocus/digital assistants.

Okay great. Sorry if it did kind of over lap my questions about Image Stabilization with the adapter. I tell ya, i've been hooked on researching lenses for this camera for a few days now. Reading everything in sight for about 3 days straight! So, my mind is probably not working right. On top of that, i'm new to the world of interchangeable lenses.

I thought about going with both the SAL 18-55 and a SAL 55-200, rather than the single 18-200. I wonder if AF would be less jumpy for some reason?

Oh, and one more thing: somebody in another thread implied that with the new firmware, the SEL lens' AF responds well to the FS100 touch screen input - tap to select, face following, etc.

Can anyone confirm? I don't use the kit lens often enough to check it myself :)
