Does this still look dark?

This is a still from some footage I shot this morning of the snow we got here in NC. It was VERY bright out and I used the 24pA mode along with 1/64 selected on the ND filter (which it asked for). I love the detail but it seems to be kinda dark, is there something I'm doing wrong, or does this look ok?

Re: Does this still look dark?

Wow! If you are going for a DAY FOR NIGHT lol

YEah, this looks really dark. What up with ND 1/8th ?

Re: Does this still look dark?

After playin around a little I set the ND filter to 1/8 and set the Iris to "manual" and rolled it off untill I got no zebras and it looks MUCH better.
Comments?

Re: Does this still look dark?

Much better indeed. Is the exposure at its max point before blowout?

Still like to see a cleaner, brighter image.

But, yes. MUUUUUUUUUUUCHHHHHH better!

Re: Does this still look dark?

I rolled the Iris untill I saw no zebras which I assume is what you mean by "max exposure before blowout" If I used no ND filter at all it was just a wash out. I'm new at this so I'm learning on the fly. My background is audio and not much of that carries over!
What would you do to make the image brighter? I need all the help I can get...LOL

Re: Does this still look dark?

LOL

I will eyeball it in LCD and/or VF (Although I do click on ZEBRAS to see where the DVX tells me I am).

Don't rely terribly on ZEBRAS. What I mean by that is, do not be afraid to trust your eyes!

Re: Does this still look dark?

its true: think about it, relying 100% on the zebras and such means that youre trusting a machine to tell you what makes for good art :P
