does this occur in every city?

Actually last time I checked, and this was about a week ago, if you call something a "job" apparently now-a-days someone will compel you to pay minimum wage.

This was something recent I've discovered, but an actor is not an independent contractor, unless they are a day-player etc... So I think fairly soon all these "free" gigs will get a crackdown from the federal govmnt. for violating minimum wage laws. (Just recently happened with BAFTA vs. Some Production). SAG/AFTRA actors receive their checks with income tax with-holdings pre-applied mostly so sufficed to say I'm just waiting for some precident case in the States to break out.

Yeah, good luck with that. Then somebody might mention the laws regarding sexual harassment in the workplace to the producers in Hollywood. Imagine, telling someone that taking off their clothes and getting in bed with a total stranger (while other people stand around and watch) is a condition of employment.

That could open the door to all sorts of harassment and discrimination suits. How dare they refuse to consider hiring a black woman to be Betsy Ross in a movie!

:)
