GH4 Does the Panasonic GH5 IBIS Internal 5-axis Stabilisation work on third party lenses?

I watched a video that claims that the internal 5 axis IBIS stabilisation of the GH5 only works with Lumix IOS lenses but I read somewhere else that IBIS will work on any lenses attached to the GH5.

Can anyone clarify this?

Can the GH5 IBIS work when using an EF to M43 adaptor on a Canon EF lens with NO stabilisation.

How good is GH5 IBIS compared to Lens stabilizer or Gimbal stabilizers. Which would produce the best stabilisation on its own?

Does the stabilisation become worse if you apply too much mechanical stabilisation in your setup?

IBIS works with all lenses (for manual lenses you need to enter the native focal length) but Panasonic 5-axis IBIS stabilization only works in conjunction with the right Panasonic lenses.
Even Olympus lenses do not (currently, and perhaps never will) work with Panasonic 5-axis IBIS.

Thanks for the reply.

I am little confused to what you have said. Are you saying GH5 has two types of IBIS, one is normal IBIS and the other is 5-axis? Is normal IBIS only 3-axis stabilisation?

Can you clarify further?

With manual focus lenses....say for example a 35 mm canon FD lens, you have to manually communicate the 35mm to the cam, so the GH5 knows what IBIS to apply...in the case of Panny lenses this is done automatically, because of the electronics between the camera and lens ...the GH5 has IBIS using any lens though and it's always 5-axis.

I think what Cary was referring to in the second part of his comment is the Dual I.S. system, which is where the IBIS works collaboratively with the in-lens stabilisation of some of the Lumix lenses to provide enhanced stability.

No. 5-axis IBIS is in camera, with ANY lens. With CERTAIN lenses, this is coordinated with the lens' 2-axis stabilization to improve the range of those 2 axis. On top of that, you can also layer in-camera electronic stabilization when shooting video.

Yes, that is exactly right!
