Does the lens still exhibit breathing?

Has the lens changed or this issue somehow corrected?

How bad is it at pulling rack focus?

thanks, Steve

i didn't realize it was that bad! well hey think on the bright side the lens is so technilogically advanced that they can even combine the zoom and focus ring into one. man i tell ya technology is getting too good too fast. i say this could be a good feature to market this cam to the public. breaking news everybody! fujinon has found a way to make a hybrid zoom/focus ring and if that doesnt sell you jvc fully backs them! o man im going to get one right now. haha nah but i like the hd 100. makes some fine pictures.

The breathing and CA are bad, but they're certainly not unworkable. This is a lens better for deep focus. If everything is in focus in the shot, it looks pretty good.

IMO it's a great lens, given the price. Is it as good as I have on my other large cameras... no. Are we getting some new lenses from Fujinon and Canon... yes. Will I want one over the stock lens... yes, but then I always get better lenses.

On the JVC I have set the focus, zoomed out all the way, and then zoomed back in all the way, and it has still held focus. Do you know how many cameras can't do that... can you say XL-1? Where was all the outrage then? For some perspective, does anyone remember the 1/3 Fujinon on the old Panasonic DVCpro 200's? The one on the JVC HD100 is perfect by comparison to that one, and nobody raised hell then.
